Pennsylvania - How does the Commonwealth stack up on the subject of executive employment?

There are almost 6 million executives in the US and about 260,000 executive opportunities in the past year as individuals changed positions or new jobs were created. Average total annual compensation for this cohort came in at $190,000, their median tenure stood at approximately 3.1 years, and 31% of them were female.

So how does Pennsylvania stack up against these national averages?

The Commonwealth employed about 200,000 executives in 2024, up 0.6% year on year, and offered almost 20,000 executive opportunities through job changes and new positions. Average total compensation stood at $175,200 and the median tenure reached 3.3 years. Again, 31% of these execs were female.

Top Industries - Worldwide, six industries stand out for the volume of executives employed—more than 10 million!   Although in total, this group only grew (△) by 0.2% in the past year, the rate of job-change was very high (⟳), so that the total opportunities for execs in these industries numbered 370,000 in the last 12 months.  These “Top Industries” include

  • Financial Services (2.1 mil., +3%△, 4.2%⟳),

  • Manufacturing (3.2 mil., -1%△, 2.9%⟳),

  • Real Estate (0.8 mil., +1%△, 2.8%⟳),

  • Construction (1.4 mil., -0.7%△, 2.1%⟳)

  • Information Technology (1.8 mil., +0.2%△, 3.9%⟳), and

  • HealthCare (1.2 mil., -1%△, 3.7%⟳).
